Planning Applications
Planning applications in projects like basements, major developments and increasingly minor developments in town centre locations are approved by local authorities with some conditions. This also apply to complex structural projects such as building into a slope or in sensitive locations (e.g. operating plants, public buildings repair during their occupancy, bridge repairs).
Planners are required by law and planning guidance to ensure the construction process follow required guidance to ensure safety, risk management and reduction of noise, dust and inconvenience.
Beta Design Consultants work with contractors, clients and planners to address such challenges. We prepare Construction Method Statements that show the safe and practical sequence of project execution. This is usually done through the preparation of a set of diagrams which are in most cases based on extensive discussions with the contractor.
Construction method statements look at issues that the client and project team, including the contractor, must consider prior to construciton commencing. These challenges relate to:
- site issues including logistics, access, storage of materials, location of site office, loading and unloading of materials.
- impact on community including dust and noise mitigation measures, working hours, wheel washing facilities if required.
- impact on safety and sequencing to ensure safe construction including any temporary works arrangements.
- security and horading arragements, lighting, signage.
- scaffold and safe use of footpaths as well as any traffic management requirements.
